Balance Weekend Retreat with Schuyler Grant & Jeff Krasno
Topanga, CA // August 2-4, 2024
Presented by Vivobarefoot
Wellbeing – in all of its expressions – emerges from balance. We seek everything from balanced relationships to balanced budgets to balanced blood sugar levels. Likewise, illness stems from imbalances. And we see evidence of falling off balance all around and within us, from imbalanced immune systems to hormones to posture to hustle culture. If you break down the root cause of virtually all of our modern imbalances you will find they come from our “convenience” culture: sedentary, indoor, temperature-controlled lives filled with a surfeit of shelf-stable refined calories and a dearth of in-real-life connection.Â
This weekend retreat is all about practices that cultivate balance in your life. This will include movement (yoga and hiking), focusing the mind (meditation and breathwork), hot and cold therapy (ice plunge and sauna), and enjoying time together in community. While 58% of Americans report eating every meal alone (wow!), we will dine on scrumptious, farm-sourced food around big communal tables and sit by the fire at night for “storytime.”Â
Jeff and Schuyler have spent their lives exploring and teaching a wide variety of holistic health modalities. They see their own lives as a constantly evolving laboratory and they love to come together in intimate groups to share what they find exciting, challenging and satisfying about the ever-evolving path of personal and societal health.
Join us as we dive into what it means to truly come back into balance!

Our Playground
At the end of the end of the end of a road, perched atop a remote valley of the Santa Monica mountains, sits Topanga Commune: 10 acres of meandering paths, oak trees, palms and gardens abutting state land. You won’t believe you are less than an hour from the heart of LA.
The property has a main house, a guest house, four tea house private rooms, three sweet A-Frame cabins, and plenty of space for camping. Sleep on organic mattresses and linens and enjoy the bounty of LA’s best local farmers for every home-cooked meal.
The property also has a sauna, hot tub, plunge pool, basketball, badminton, and a plethora of hammocks.
Songwriter Neil Young lived on this property for many years and was deeply inspired by this magical spot. If there is anywhere in the world to find “a heart of gold,” it may be here.
